Dear Vons Chicken Customers,

Hi, I’m Lovelle, one of the operators at Vons Chicken Mountain View. Since 2019, this place has been our home. But it hasn’t been easy, and we’ve decided it’s time to follow our passion — tteokbokki and the warm, lively world of bunsik. In Korea, bunsik means comforting, affordable street-style food — like tteokbokki, kimbap, ramen, and fried snacks. Many bunsik shops are run by moms who feel like everyone’s “auntie,” or 이모 (imo), serving food with a mix of care and love. Our new name, Sudam Bunsik, comes from my mom’s restaurant, “Sudam Korean Cuisine in Los Altos,” which she’s been running since 2012. She’s the classic tiger mom chef, and I grew up loving her food — especially her kimbap and tteokbokki. My brother and I have ARFID, so she would cleverly hide veggies in our food to make sure we ate them. Now, I’m bringing those flavors to you in a new way — a casual, cozy spot for Korean comfort food, where there’s always something warm on the stove and snacks to share. The quality and care you’ve always known? Still here. The menu? Fresh with tteokbokki, kimbap, fried snacks, and new drinks! Sudam Bunsik — Korean Comfort, Bay Area Soul

At Sudam Bunsik, we serve the flavors we grew up with — cozy, casual Korean comfort food made for sharing and savoring.

Our menu celebrates bunsik culture: tteokbokki simmered in spicy-sweet sauce, fresh hand-rolled kimbap, crispy fried snacks, and more. It’s the kind of food you can eat anytime — quick lunch, late-night craving, or a relaxed meal with friends. The name Sudam comes from our mom’s beloved restaurant, Sudam Korean Cuisine in Los Altos, where she’s been cooking from the heart since 2012. We’ve taken her recipes, stories, and love for honest food, and reimagined them in a more casual, come-as-you-are space here in Mountain View. Whether you’re new to Korean flavors or chasing the taste of home, we want Sudam Bunsik to feel like your spot — where the food is warm, the vibe is easy, and every visit leaves you a little happier (and maybe a little spicier).
